In this context, the thoughts of classical educational figures such as Al-Zarnuji become increasingly important to revisit. This study aims to critically examine Al-Zarnuji’s educational thought as outlined in his seminal work Ta'lim al-Muta'allim, focusing on educational goals, the roles of educators and students, learning methods, and curriculum, and linking them to the current needs of Islamic education. This research employs a qualitative library research method using descriptive-critical analysis of textual content. The findings indicate that education, according to Al-Zarnuji, aims to form a holistic personality integrating sincere intention, spiritual orientation, and social responsibility. Educators are viewed as moral-spiritual guides, while students are expected to embody humility, diligence, and discipline. The three main teaching methods promoted by Al-Zarnuji advice, dialogue, and discussion remain relevant in contemporary character education. Theoretically, this study enriches the discourse on classical Islamic educational thought that is relevant for reconstructing a value-based educational paradigm. However, </em><em>In parctice</em><em>,</em><em> many school principals are still unable to fully implement SBM, resulting in minimal changes in school conditions and management. Therefore, this study aims to examine the role of the principal in the implementation of SBM at SD Negeri 12 Talang Ubi. This research adopts a qualitative approach using a descriptive method. Data analysis was conducted in three stages: (1) data reduction, (2) d</em><em>ata display</em><em>, and (3) conclusion drawing. Based on findings in the field, the principal has carried out his role professionally in implementing SBM. The principal acts as a role model and motivator for both teaching and administrative staff, and has taken the initiative to propose building renovations and procurement of educational facilities and infrastructure. The researcher concludes that the principal has performed well in leadership, motivating teachers, and improving infrastructure during the SBM implementation. Academic anxiety arises when the learning process only focuses on cognitive aspects, so that it does not encourage students to internalize Islamic values in daily life in a contextual and applicative manner. This requires development in the planning of PAI learning methods and strategies that are more integrative and responsive to the student learning environment. The objectives of this research are first, to analyze methods and strategies in PAI learning, and second, to formulate the process of developing environment-based PAI learning methods and strategies, with a focus on two aspects, namely the characteristics of the environment as a source of learning and the integration of Islamic values in the interaction of students with their environment. This research uses a qualitative approach with the library research method, as well as reviews the latest literature related to the concept of environmental pedagogy and PAI learning development. The results of the study show that PAI learning planning that utilizes the surrounding environment as a medium and learning resource can increase active participation, holistic understanding, and contextual internalization of Islamic values. Environment-based learning strategies have also been proven to encourage the growth of ecological awareness within the framework of Islamic spirituality. The Merdeka Curriculum emerges as an educational reform initiative emphasizing character development through flexible learning and the reinforcement of the Pancasila Student Profile. However, there remains a lack of systematic studies on practical strategies to integrate Islamic values into the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in a way that effectively supports holistic character formation. This study aims to analyze strategies for integrating Islamic values into the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum to enhance the effectiveness of character development. A qualitative descriptive approach is employed using library research methods, examining recent academic literature and education policies (2019–2024). Data analysis was conducted using thematic analysis, with source triangulation to ensure validity. The findings indicate that Islamic values can be integrated through several learning strategies, such as thematic-integrative approaches, project-based learning, problem-based learning, cross-disciplinary teacher collaboration, and the use of Islamic digital technologies. These strategies enable the contextual and practical internalization of Islamic moral values while supporting the development of 21st-century competencies. The implications highlight the urgent need to enhance the capacity of Islamic education teachers (PAI) in designing holistic learning strategies aligned with the principles of the Merdeka Curriculum and Islamic values. Using a qualitative case study approach. The findings reveal that there reveal four main models in entrepreneurship education in Islamic boarding schools, namely an integrated model between the diniyah curriculum and entrepreneurship, an extracurricular model based on business units, an internship or business incubation model, and an independent economic model based on the Islamic boarding school community. The applied management strategies include the stages of vision and curriculum planning, organizing entrepreneurial structures, implementation based on direct practice (learning by doing), and thematic and continuous evaluation. The main obstacles in its implementation include limited professional human resources, minimal facilities and access to technology, weak partnership networks, and the absence of national regulations that support entrepreneurship education in Islamic boarding schools. One of the root causes is the weak internalization of spiritual and ethical values within the learning process. Islamic Religious Education (PAI), which should play a strategic role in character building, often remains confined to a purely cognitive approach. This article aims to analyze and integrate Islamic theological values with pedagogical approaches in PAI as an effort to optimize students’ character development. This research employs a qualitative approach through library research. Data were collected from a wide range of relevant literature, including academic books, journal articles, and educational policy documents. The data analysis used a descriptive-analytical method with content analysis to explore the relationship between Islamic theological concepts and pedagogical strategies in character education. The findings reveal that the integration of theological values—such as tawhid, morality, and worship—with pedagogical approaches that are humanistic, constructivist, and contextual significantly enhances the effectiveness of PAI in shaping student character. These values serve as the moral and spiritual foundation that imbues the entire learning process. The implications of this study highlight the urgency of designing a PAI curriculum that is integrative and holistic, along with the need to train teachers in pedagogical strategies aligned with Islamic theological principles. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach through field research, data were collected via in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation of traditional wedding processes. Thematic analysis was conducted through data reduction and categorization. The findings reveal that the practice of Doi’ Balanca is not merely a symbolic customary requirement but also embodies moral, spiritual, and social values such as responsibility, hard work, respect for women, as well as familial deliberation and togetherness. Within the framework of Islamic education, these values reflect core principles such as mas’uliyyah (responsibility), shura (consultation), ukhuwah (brotherhood), ‘adl (justice), and zuhd (modesty), all of which align with the objectives of Islamic character education. However, the tradition faces challenges from materialistic tendencies and social prestige, which risk distorting its spiritual significance. The study’s implications highlight the strategic role of Islamic education in reinterpreting and guiding the practice of Doi’ Balanca to remain aligned with Sharia principles through educational, humanistic, and contextual approaches.
